Orange the World in support of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

In line with the SDGs this year’s theme for the global campaign is “Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls”.

November 25th, International Day to end Violence against Women, and the 16 Days of Activism mobilise global action to increase worldwide awareness and create opportunities to address challenges and solutions.

Premiere and Reception - Step It Up – End Gender-Based Violence in the Caribbean

This documentary presents UN Women strategies incorporating community-led intervention and advocacy efforts aimed at building a critical mass of individuals and groups engaged in activism against gender-based violence. The Social Mobilisation work being done by UN Women Multi-Country Office (MCO) -  Caribbean to end violence against women and girls in the Eastern Caribbean is highlighted through interviews with key representatives of Governmental organisations, Non-Governmental organisations, gender advocates and visual and musical artists, exploring the key challenges faced in the Caribbean in addressing GBV.

1 in 3 Art Exhibition

UN Women in collaboration with the World Bank and EU-funded Interarts Project “DECIDES Caribbean”, co-organisers of this activity, are hosting the international art exhibition “1 in 3” at U.N. House, Marine Gardens, Christ Church, Barbados.

This exhibition, curated by the Art Program of the World Bank in Washington D.C., has travelled through three continents and seven countries to raise awareness about the global epidemic of gender-based violence. The exhibition of “1 in 3” in Barbados which is made possible thanks to the support of the European Union, runs 1-15 December 2017.
