With their recent appointments as head of UN Women MCO Caribbean and European Union Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean States, UN Women MCO Caribbean Representative Tonni Brodber and Ambassador Malgorzata Wasilewska held a virtual courtesy call.

Given the EU’s emphasis on at least 85% of its projects related to gender and UN Women’s mandate as the UN entity for gender equality and women’s empowerment, it was an opportunity to discuss bilateral areas of cooperation and continued joint project implementation for ending gender-based violence; supporting women’s economic empowerment and working with civil society.

UN Women’s ongoing development work in the Caribbean with European Union funding and technical partnership is being implemented through the EU-UN Spotlight Programme to end violence against women and girls and the Win-Win Gender Equality means Good Business Programme. UN Women Caribbean had also worked with Ambassador Wasilewska on her previous appointment as EU Ambassador to Jamaica, one of the UN Women MCO Caribbean programming countries.
