UN Women, launches the Caribbean Model for “Resilient, Inclusive, SMART and Safe SIDS (RISS)". This model introduces inclusive, smart and safe urban, peri-urban and rural spaces as a resilient approach to climate change in the Caribbean. This RISS programme is grounded in a human security approach, as it recognizes the intersections among climate change, disaster risk resilience, gender-based violence and economic empowerment in enhancing the safety and capacity of women, men, children, the elderly, LGBTQ+ people, persons with disabilities, youth, Indigenous people and all marginalized groups.
