CSO Movement-Building Retreat: Survey and Expressions of Interest

Date:

(deadline extended to May 27th, 2022)

Dear Civil Society Partners and Leaders,

UN Women MCO Caribbean is planning a Caribbean CSO Movement-Building Retreat to provide space for CSOs to strategise and respond to challenges facing women's organisations, in particular those addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and its intersections. Scheduled to be held in the third week of July, the event falls under the global Spotlight Initiative, launched in 2017 by the United Nations with financing from the European Union. This initiative aims to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls by the year 2030.

As part of the planning for the retreat, we are sharing with you the Concept Note here, developed after a round of consultations with CSOs in the region who expressed their capacity needs, perceived gaps, priorities, and interest in a face-to-face meeting for connecting, planning and capacity-building. The vision from these consultations aspires to strengthen the women’s movement, end violence against women and girls, and leverage feminist advocacy voices.

To help us plan the retreat, we are inviting CSOs to complete a short survey to focus the content of the event and processes to use. We would also like to know more about your organisation, and movement-building strategies you may have used in the CSO space. The survey includes space for an Expression of Interest by CSOs wanting to participate in the event.

Please take about 7 minutes to share your views by completing the survey via the link below (it will close on Friday, May 27th, 2022):

Thank you for your crucial work, ongoing interest and support.

Warm regards,
UN Women Multi Country Office Caribbean (MCO) Colleagues
