Gender Hub - 9th Women's Affairs Minister's Meeting of the Commonwealth

UNIFEM is pleased to collaborate with the Bureau of Gender Affairs and the Commonwealth Secretariat in the coordination of the Gender Hub for the upcoming 9th Women's Affairs Ministers' Meeting (WAMM) of the Commonwealth Countries being hosted in Barbados at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in early June.

The Gender Hub provides an opportunity for development partners to showcase and explain to conference participants, the use of the tools that have been developed for gender mainstreaming and analysis, as well as monitoring and tracking gender performance.

The tools will relate to the theme of the WAMM - Gender Issues in Economic Crisis: Recovery and Beyond, Women as Agents of Transformation - and also more generally to gender and development.  The Hub will be in place from the start of the Partner's Forum and Exhibition from June 4th-5th 2010 whilst the 9th WAMM runs from 7th  9th June, 2010.

A visit to the Hub is included in the official schedule of those participating in the plenary sessions - the Ministers of Women's Affairs, Ministers of Finance and senior government officials, parliamentarians, civil society organisations, and other leaders in gender equality and women's empowerment from around the Commonwealth.
